Seeking nominations for 2017 AAJA-SF Board elections!

CALL FOR NOMINEES FOR AAJA SF CHAPTER 2017 ELECTIONS

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is holding a fall election for one-year terms starting January 1, 2017 and ending December 31, 2017.

Please read the descriptions for open positions below and submit candidate statements via e-mail to myself, acting chapter president Kevin Lee at eelnivek@gmail.com and board member Lauren Kawana at lauren.akie@gmail.com by Friday, November 18th at 5:00 pm PST.

Candidates will then submit specific information to publish on this year’s ballot, including their name, employer and a statement outlining their experience with AAJA and their reasons for running to be on the board.

Only full members in good standing are eligible to serve on the board and vote in elections. Good standing includes payment of 2016 dues. In the event there is no candidate for a position, the new board can appoint a member. You may nominate yourself or someone else.

The current board decided this year to alter the board structure to streamline operations and account for changes to the journalism industry. The chart below shows the board structure for 2017. Because of the restructuring, all positions in 2017 are up for election.

We decided to eliminate the industry designation for the Vice President positions because we thought the print and broadcast delegations were too restrictive. The open Vice President titles reflect the growing diversity of media. The duties of the national board representative will be delegated to the board members.
