			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;re awarding $10,000 in journalism scholarships once again!</p>
<p>AAJA SF is encouraging high school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students who live in or attend school in the Bay Area and who are pursuing journalism to apply for this great opportunity. Past recipients have received awards ranging from $500 to $4,000, and have gone on to produce amazing work and to be part of major news organizations including the New York Times and NBC.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Bay Area News Project, a nonprofit news venture launching with $5 million in seed money from financier Willian Hellman and $250,000 from The Knight Foundation, has named an editor to lead its organization. Editor Jonathan Weber intends to hire at least 15 journalists this year as part of his aim for “building a stellar newsroom to cover Bay Area government and politics, the arts, business, entertainment, community news and other topics.&#8221;</p>

The speakers: Benjamin Pimentel covers technology for MarketWatch. He
was a reporter for 14 years with the San Francisco Chronicle and is a
graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Jennifer
Kho is a freelance reporter and editor who has carved out a name for
herself in reporting on green technology. Jennifer reports for both
print and Web publications. Her work has appeared in the New York
Times, CNN.com, TheStreet.com, Earth2Tech and the Los Angeles Times.

ELP is designed to help you better understand the corporate
environment as it applies to newsrooms. Participants can gain valuable
skills in identifying newsroom dynamics and boosting leadership skills
and performance. They also can learn how Asian American and Pacific
Islander values can be assets to excellence, as well as liabilities,
